What you can do with Perk MCP

Perk MCP lets you query your company's travel, spend, travel invoice, and event data in Perk from an AI assistant. Use this article as a reference for what you can ask, organized by role and by data type, with copy-paste example prompts.

With the Perk MCP, you can query data and generate reports, but can't book, change, send, or approve anything.

Reporting data - as for any reports present in the platform - is one day behind, while expense search and other data are live. What you can see depends on your Perk role and your company's active plan.

Finance and procurement

Finance and procurement users can query expenses, invoices, and spend data across the account, within their Perk role and permissions.

Capabilities:

  • Find and filter expenses by status, amount, category, merchant, or trip link.
  • Pull travel reports filtered by cost object, payment profile, or user, and download them as CSV or XLSX.
  • Query spend data for quick answers, such as top cost objects, spend by category, and breakdown by department.
  • Retrieve and download invoices by status, date, or billing period.
  • Drill into travel invoice line items by service type, traveler, or cost object.
  • Review payment profiles and their billing preferences.

Example prompts:

  • "Show me all draft expenses from Q1 2026."
  • "What did we spend at Marriott last quarter?"
  • "What are our top cost categories this quarter?"
  • "Show me all unpaid travel invoices from Q1 2026."
  • "Show me all flight line items from last month."
  • "Show me all draft expenses from Q1 2026."

Travel manager and admin

Travel managers and admins can query trips, users, policy, expenses, and reports across the organization, within their Perk permissions and active plan.

Capabilities:

  • List upcoming, current, and past trips across the organization and monitor trips pending approval.
  • Search and filter users by role, cost object, manager, or approval process, and spot setup gaps.
  • Review policy rules, such as hotel budgets, cabin class restrictions, and approval requirements.
  • Query expenses and pull reports across the organization.
  • Review invoice line items by traveler or cost object.

Example prompts:

  • "Show me all my upcoming booked trips."
  • "Find any trips I have pending approval."
  • "Find all active users with the finance role."
  • "Which users have no approval process assigned?"
  • "What cabin class can I book for long-haul flights?"

Note: Travel admins can query trips for their travelers, while travelers see only their own trips.

Traveler

Travelers can query their own trips, expenses, profile, and policy rules. A traveler sees only their own data.

Capabilities:

  • Search trips by destination or date range.
  • View upcoming, current, and past trips, including bookings, dates, and cost.
  • Check their own expenses, such as drafts, pending expenses, or expenses linked to a trip.
  • Retrieve their own profile, including user ID and cost object.
  • Check their own policy rules before booking.

Example prompts:

  • "What's booked on my trip to London next week?"
  • "Show me all my upcoming trips."
  • "What's my user ID and cost object?"
  • "What's my hotel budget in Germany?"
  • "Do I need approval for this trip?"
  • "Show me the events I'm attending next month."
  • "Who's attending the event I'm organizing?"
  • "What card transactions do I still need to match?"
  • "Find expenses over £500 not linked to a trip.”

By data type

This section lists Perk MCP capabilities by data type so you can scan for a specific area. Access to each area depends on your Perk role and modules.

Trips

You can look up a single trip or list many trips in Perk MCP:

  • Get a trip: a full breakdown of a trip, including travelers, what's booked (flights, hotels, trains, cars), dates, and cost.
  • List trips: filter by status (upcoming, current, past), or search by destination, traveler, or date range. Returns up to 30 trips at a time, sorted by start date or last modified.

Events

You can look up your Perk Events in Perk MCP:

  • List events: list the Perk Events you can see — the ones you're organizing, attending, invited to, or that are visible to your account. Filter by timing (upcoming, past, or no dates) and by your role (organizing, attending, or invited).
  • List event attendance: for an event you organize, see who's attending, with each person's RSVP status. Filter by RSVP state, or search by name or email.

Expenses

You can find, review, and analyze expenses in Perk MCP:

  • List single expenses: filtered by date range, type, reconciliation status, or amount threshold — useful for reviewing last month's spend or finding unreconciled expenses over a set amount.
  • List trip expenses: by description, ID or date range.

Cards

You can look up your cards and pending card transactions in Perk MCP. Your Perk plan must include Expense.

  • List available cards: your own company cards plus any lodge cards in your company — the cards you can submit expenses against.
  • List pending transactions: your pending, unmatched card transactions that still need to be matched to an expense. Lodge-card transactions are excluded.

Travel invoices

You can find, open, and break down travel invoices in Perk MCP:

  • List travel invoices for the company, filtered by profile, status, date range, billing period, or serial number. Each invoice includes amounts, due dates, and a PDF download link.
  • Get a single Perk invoice by serial number, including billing information, tax summary, amounts, line items, and a PDF download link.
  • List Perk invoice lines across invoices. Each line is a single booked service (flight, hotel, car, and so on) with trip metadata, traveler, cost object, tax, and amount. Filter by profile, serial number, or date range.
  • List payment profiles. Each profile holds billing preferences such as payment method, billing address, and billing period.

Reporting

Reporting in Perk MCP is limited to users with reporting access: analysts and account admins (not company admins). Reporting data is one day behind, not real time.

  • Generate a travel report using Perk's custom report download. Choose a date range of up to 12 months, a date type (booking date, trip start date, or invoice issue date), and filters such as cost object, payment profile, legal entity, traveler, and payment recipient (company-billed or traveler-billed). Reports cover around 90 data fields, including flights, hotels, cars, trains, taxes, invoices, CO2 emissions, and policy compliance.
  • The report runs in the background and usually takes 30 seconds to a couple of minutes to prepare. Your assistant returns it as a CSV or XLSX download and can summarize or chart the data in the conversation.
  • Download the report once it's ready. Generate and download always work together: generate first, then download.
  • Query spend data directly for quick questions, such as top cost objects, spend by category, or breakdown by department, answered without generating a full report.

Policy

You can ask about your company's travel and spend rules in Perk MCP, such as hotel budgets, flight cabin class restrictions, and approval requirements, without looking them up manually.

Users

You can look up user profiles in Perk MCP:

  • Get current user: your own profile, including user ID and cost object.
  • Search users: admins can search and filter all users in the account by name, email, role, cost object, manager, or approval process. Returns up to 1,000 users, which is useful for spotting setup gaps.
