With Perk's Slack integration, approvers receive Slack messages when they have approvals waiting for their attention—both for trip approvals and expense approval notifications.

For trip approvals, Perk sends a real-time notification to the approver when a trip needs their sign- off. Approvers can view the trip summary—including dates, employees, services, policy details, messages, and the total price—and approve and pay or decline without leaving Slack. They can also click through to the full trip itinerary in Perk if they need more details.

For expense approval notifications, Perk checks hourly for any new expenses waiting for approval and sends a Slack message when there are expenses to review. To manage expense approval notifications, see Manage expense approval notifications.

Note: Approvers will only receive trip approval requests and expense approval notifications if their email address is the same on Perk and Slack.

Set up the Slack approvals integration

1. Go to Settings > Integrations.
2. Search for the Slack integration and click Start set up.
3. Enable the integration by clicking Add to Slack.
4. Allow permissions to access the Slack workspace - OAuth authorization.
5. Once this is done, two things can happen:

• If you’re an account admin on Perk and a workspace owner or app manager on Slack, you can complete the integration process yourself. For more details, go to the Authorize the app on Slack section.
• If you’re not the workspace owner or app manager on Slack, the integration will remain pending until someone with the right permissions in Slack approves it.

Tip: You can disable the integration at any time from the Integrations page by clicking Manage.

Authorize the app on Slack

When setting up the Slack integration from Perk, the workspace owner or app manager for your company’s Slack will receive a Slackbot message to approve or restrict the app installation.

They can authorize the app from their Slack app directory.

Only workspace owners or app managers for your company’s Slack can authorize the installation of an app.
