An open return is a flexible ticket where you don't need to choose a specific return time or date. They are valid for one calendar month from the date of the outward journey.
Open return tickets are only available for trains in the UK.
All fare types are available, including Advanced Single, Anytime Return, and Off Peak Return.
Book an open return ticket
- Go to the Travel page > Book > Trains tab.
- Enter a departure location in the UK, and the Open return option will appear.
- Select Open return.
- Enter the date, destination, and travelers for your trip, then click Search trains.
- Choose a train and fare, then click Continue.
- Select your ticket delivery method and seat preference, then click Continue to itinerary.
- Add a name to your trip and click Continue to checkout.
- Make sure the traveler's details are correct, complete the payment and reporting details, then click Confirm payment or Send approval request.
