When you're planning a trip that crosses a border, the last thing you want is to find out at the airport that you're missing a visa. With visa partner Sherpa, Perk checks your saved passports against your itinerary and tells you exactly what you need for each destination—so you can sort it out while you're still booking, not after.
If an e-visa or electronic travel authorization is available online, you can buy it and pay for it with your booking in the same checkout process. Use this article to learn how to check your requirements and buy a visa or authorization without leaving Perk.

Viewing your requirements for a trip
On the itinerary review page, the visa status is displayed next to each traveler’s name: Check visa requirements (a visa may be required), or No visa needed. Select the status to open a breakdown by destination, based on the passport saved to that traveler's profile.
If you have more than one saved passport, you can choose which one to check the trip against.
- Start booking a flight as you normally would in Perk.
- Search for your flight and select the one you want.
- On the Review your trip itinerary page, select Check visa requirements next to your name to see requirements for each destination on your trip.
If an e-visa or authorization is needed and available through Perk, you see an option to add it to your trip. If it's needed but not available to buy in Perk yet, Perk still tells you so you know to arrange it another way—this includes layovers.
Note: Requirements only show for travelers who have a passport saved in their Perk profile. If no passport is saved, no requirements appear—so add your passport details to your profile before you book.
Caution: If your country of residence and your passport's issuing country are different, double check the requirements shown—they can differ depending on which one applies to your trip.
Buying a visa as part of a trip
When an e-visa or travel authorization is available for your trip, add it to your booking and pay for it at the same time as your flight.
Perk supports 60+ e-visas and electronic travel authorizations through Sherpa, including the US ESTA and UK ETA—both business and tourist visas.
- On the Review your trip itinerary page, select the e-visa or travel authorization Perk shows for your trip.
- Add it to your trip.
- Complete the booking as normal. Perk adds the fee for the e-visa or authorization as a separate item to your trip total, so it's paid in the same payment as the rest of your booking.
Buying the visa in Perk means one payment for your trip, instead of a separate purchase and a separate expense claim. The visa cost is itemized alongside other booking items in the same trip total.
After you buy an e-visa or travel authorization, you receive an email with details to finish the application with Sherpa, Perk's visa partner. Perk hands off the details you've already paid for, and Sherpa collects anything else the destination needs.
To complete your application:
- Look for the confirmation email from Sherpa after check-out.
- Open it and follow the steps to finish your application.
- Fill in any more details the destination needs to issue your e-visa or authorization.
- Submit the application and wait for approval.
You also see confirmation of the purchase in your Perk confirmation emails, alongside the rest of your trip.
Caution: Visa information is guidance only and accurate at the time of publishing. Always check government websites and airline materials before booking and traveling.
When Perk can’t provide support with visa applications and payments, you need to manage any visa applications yourself or directly with Sherpa (for e-visas) or CIBTvisas (for embassy visas).
