UK Electronic Travel Authorization (UK ETA)

The UK ETA is a travel permit that lets foreign nationals visit or pass through the UK without a visa. You can use it for short stays of up to 6 months for tourism, business, study, or medical treatment but having an ETA doesn't guarantee entry into the UK.

From April 2, 2025, you need it to visit the UK. Check if you need one directly through Perk and buy it during booking—no separate application needed.

UK ETA details

  • Approval time: Most are granted within minutes, but apply well in advance in case additional checks are needed.
  • Validity: Two years or until your passport expires (whichever comes first); can be used for multiple trips.
  • Requirement: From April 2, 2025, all EU and non-EU nationals need an ETA.

Checking and purchasing on Perk

Perk checks your saved passport against your trip and tells you what you need for each destination.

  1. On the Review your trip itinerary page, select the e-visa or travel authorization Perk shows for your trip.
  2. Add it to your trip.
  3. Complete the booking as normal. Perk adds the fee for the e-visa or authorization as a separate item to your trip total, so it's paid in the same payment as the rest of your booking.

If an ETA is needed and available in Perk, you'll see an option to add it.

Note: Add your passport to your profile before booking so visa requirements appear.

After you buy an e-visa or travel authorization, you receive an email with details to finish the application with Sherpa, Perk's visa partner. Perk hands off the details you've already paid for, and Sherpa collects anything else the destination needs.
