Approve or reject Perk Card requests

This article applies to Perk Cards only.

In Perk, as card admin you are usually responsible for ordering Perk Cards for people. However, you can set up your Perk Cards so that people can request their own card. You can choose whether to grant or decline the card request, making changes to spend limits and card usage.

Caution: Your account admin must have enabled the feature for your company.

When people request a card on either the web or the mobile app, you receive a notification where you can check the details of the request: the person who requested the card, the card type, the card purpose and any comments, as well as the requested spend limits, etc. As card admin, you can choose to approve or reject the request, and adjust any setup of the card. In other words, you can change the spend limits, card type, or apply additional security measures such as restricting to specific merchant categories before it is issued. People can only have up to 5 open requests at a time. They can cancel a card request at any time, provided it hasn't been approved. Once approved, virtual and single-use cards can be used immediately. Physical cards are ordered and shipped to your company's address.

Caution: If you choose to let people request cards, all people for the company will be able to request a card, whether they already own one or not.

Viewing card requests

You can view all card requests in Cards Team cards, under the Card requests tab. This tab shows a count of pending requests, alongside the Perk cards and Archived tabs.

It provides a summary of the request:

  • request date
  • person who requested the card
  • card type (physical, virtual or single use)
  • requested spend limit

Click Approve in a request's row to approve it as is, or use the Actions (⋮) menu to Edit request or Reject request. Clicking anywhere else on the row opens the Edit card request screen, which shows the request's cardholder name and card name, its card type, and its spending settings, pre-filled with what the requester selected.

Adjusting card settings

Opening a request (or choosing Edit request from the list) takes you to the Edit card request screen, where you can change any of the following before approving:

  • Cardholder: the person's name and the card's display name
  • Card type: physical, virtual, or single use
  • Spending settings: the spending limit amount and its period (for physical and virtual cards), or the auto-terminate date (for single-use cards)
  • Blocked merchant categories: turn on to restrict specific merchant categories
  • ATM withdrawals: turn on or off cash withdrawals (physical cards only)
  • Additional comments: a note that's included in the email sent to the requester

The requester's delivery address is shown for reference.

If you change any details, the requester is notified of the changes by email.

Approving the card request

To approve a request as is, click Approve directly in the request's row. To review or change any details first, open the request (or choose Edit request), then click Approve card. To deny a request, click Reject — from the row's menu, or from the edit screen. The card requester is notified by push notification (if enabled) and by email of the outcome, and of any changes you made before approving. Once handled, the request moves out of the Card requests list. Repeat until all pending requests are approved or rejected.
