What you can do with Perk MCP

Perk MCP lets you query your company's travel, spend, invoice, and event data in Perk from an AI assistant, and take action too. Use this article as a reference for what you can ask and do, organized by role and by data type, with copy-paste example prompts.

With Perk MCP, you can query data and generate reports, and you can also book and manage travel, manage expenses end to end, approve pending trips and expenses, and set up a new Perk Event — all directly through your assistant.

Reporting data - as for any reports present in the platform - is one day behind, while expense search and other data are live. What you can see depends on your Perk role and your company's active plan.

Querying across legal entities

If your company has multiple companies in Perk, you can get a consolidated view without asking per entity provided you have permissions to access data for all companies. Travel reports and spend reports both accept a legal entity filter, so you can pull a single report scoped to one entity, or leave it unfiltered for an all-entity view across your organization.

Finance and procurement

Finance and procurement users can query expenses, invoices, and spend data across the account, within their Perk role and permissions.

By data type

This section lists Perk MCP capabilities by data type so you can scan for a specific area. Access to each area depends on your Perk role and modules.

Trips

You can look up a single trip or list many trips in Perk MCP, and now book and approve travel too:

  • Get a trip: a full breakdown of a trip, including travelers, what's booked (flights, hotels, trains, cars), dates, and cost.
  • List trips: filter by status (upcoming, current, past), or search by destination, traveler, or date range. Returns up to 30 trips at a time, sorted by start date or last modified.
  • Book a trip: search and book flights, hotels, trains, and cars. Your assistant builds the itinerary and hands off a checkout link — you complete checkout in the Perk web app by clicking Checkout & pay. Your assistant doesn't pay for a trip on its own.
  • Approve or send back a pending trip, if you're an approver or admin.
  • Get a booking confirmation PDF for a trip, to download or share.

Visa and entry requirements

You can ask Perk MCP about visa and entry requirements before you travel, grounded in Perk's Entry Ready data:

  • Ask whether you need a visa for a destination, based on your nationality and travel dates. Your assistant answers the question; you can't buy a visa directly but you can go to Perk and perform that action there if available.

Events

You can look up your Perk Events in Perk MCP:

  • List events: list the Perk Events you can see — the ones you're organizing, attending, invited to, or that are visible to your account. Filter by timing (upcoming, past, or no dates) and by your role (organizing, attending, or invited).
  • List event attendance: for an event you organize, see who's attending, with each person's RSVP status. Filter by RSVP state, or search by name or email.
  • Create an event: set up a Perk Event with a name and details, without leaving your assistant.

Expenses

You can find, create, and review expenses in Perk MCP:

  • Create an expense from a receipt, mileage, or a per diem.
  • Edit an expense's memo, category, cost object, or trip link.
  • Submit an expense for approval, or recall a submitted expense.
  • Approve or send back an expense, if you're an approver.
  • Upload a receipt and have it automatically matched to a card transaction.
  • List expenses for a given period, filtered by date range, reconciliation status, or amount threshold — useful for reviewing last month's spend or finding unreconciled expenses over a set amount.
  • List expenses associated with a specific trip.
  • Search expenses by description (e.g. "client dinner") within a date range.

Cards

You can look up your cards and pending card transactions in Perk MCP. These need the Spend module.

  • List available cards: your own company cards plus any lodge cards in your company — the cards you can submit expenses against.
  • List pending transactions: your pending, unmatched card transactions that still need to be matched to an expense. Lodge-card transactions are excluded.
  • Match a receipt to a pending transaction automatically, instead of searching for it yourself.

Travel invoices

You can find, open, and break down travel invoices in Perk MCP:

  • List invoices for the company, filtered by profile, status, date range, billing period, or serial number. Each invoice includes amounts, due dates, and a PDF download link.
  • Get a single invoice by serial number, including billing information, tax summary, amounts, line items, and a PDF download link.
  • List invoice lines across invoices. Each line is a single booked service (flight, hotel, car, and so on) with trip metadata, traveler, cost object, tax, and amount. Filter by profile, serial number, or date range.
  • List invoice profiles. Each profile holds billing preferences such as payment method, billing address, and billing period.

Reporting

Reporting in Perk MCP is limited to users with reporting access: analysts and account admins (not company admins). Reporting data is one day behind, not real time. The report runs in the background and is usually ready in under a minute, though large reports can take several minutes or more. Your assistant returns it as a CSV or XLSX download and can summarize or chart the data in the conversation.

  • Generate a travel report using Perk's custom report download. Choose a date range of up to 12 months, a date type (booking date, trip start date, or invoice issue date), and filters such as cost object, payment profile, legal entity, traveler, and payment recipient (company-billed or traveler-billed). Reports cover around 90 data fields, including flights, hotels, cars, trains, taxes, invoices, CO2 emissions, and policy compliance.
  • Download the report once it's ready. Generate and download always work together: generate first, then download.
  • Query spend data directly for quick questions, such as top cost objects, spend by category, or breakdown by department, answered without generating a full report.

Team insights

Team insights in Perk MCP is available to line managers, cost object owners, and approvers — scoped to your direct reports, your cost objects, or trips you've approved or that a delegate approved on your behalf. It's filtered by expense date up to yesterday. The report runs in the background and is usually ready in under a minute. Your assistant returns the data as structured rows in the conversation and can summarize or chart it.

  • Generate a Team Insights report for a date range of up to 12 months. Reports cover 22 data fields, including traveler details, trip and booking info, spend, policy violations, and cost allocation.
  • Get the report's data once it's ready. Generate and get data always work together: generate first, then retrieve.
  • This is scoped to your direct reports, your cost objects, or trips you've approved. It covers travel data only, for now.

Policy

You can ask about your company's travel and spend rules in Perk MCP, such as hotel budgets, flight cabin class restrictions, and approval requirements, without looking them up manually.

Users

You can look up user profiles in Perk MCP:

  • Get current user: your own profile, including user ID and cost object.
  • Search users: admins can search and filter all users in the account by name, email, role, cost object, manager, or approval process. Returns up to 1,000 users, which is useful for spotting setup gaps.
