Add private companions to personal travel

Private companions let you bring a partner, family member, or friend along on personal travel you book through Perk. You can add a private companion before you start your search, and then book flights, stays, trains, or cars for them whenever you book personal travel, paid on your own personal card. This article shows you how to add, book for, and manage your companions.

In short: add a companion through the add-traveler form, select them when you book personal travel, and manage them all in one place. Companions can only join personal travel, never business travel.

To learn more about booking and paying for personal travel, see Booking personal travel on Perk.

Note: Personal travel is currently in beta phase and is available to a select group of customers.

Who you can add

Private companions must be 2 or older. You can add anyone who meets this age requirement, including your child, partner, family member, or friend.

Note: Adding a companion under 2 years old is not possible as infants aren't supported yet. For more information, see Book travel for a child.

Your companions are private to you. Only you can see them and book for them, and their names are hidden from everyone else in your company. To learn more, see How personal travel stays private.

Adding a private companion

You add a private companion through the same add-traveler form you use to add any new traveler. To add a companion:

  1. Start a personal travel booking and open the traveler selection.
  2. Choose to register a new traveler and fill in the companion's details in the add-traveler form.
  3. Select your relationship to the companion, for example partner, family member, or friend.
  4. Save the companion.

Once saved, the companion is linked to you and ready to select whenever you book personal travel.

Note: A private companion doesn't get access to Perk. They have no login and no account. They exist only as a person you can book for.

Booking flights, stays, trains, or cars for a companion

You can book any service for a private companion as personal travel: flights, stays, trains, and cars. Adding a companion to seats or rooms works the same way as booking for multiple travelers for business travel. To book for a companion:

  1. Select your companion from the traveler selection when you search.
  2. Start a personal travel search for a flight, stay, train, or car.
  3. Complete the booking as usual, assigning seats or rooms across you and your companion.
  4. Pay for the whole booking, including your companion's services, on your own personal card.

To learn more about how payment works for personal travel, see Booking personal travel on Perk.

Managing your companions

Perk shows all the private companions you've added in one place, so you can review them at any time. Open your companion management view in your profile to see everyone you've added. Each companion stays linked to you: no one else in your company can see them or book for them.

Companions and business trips

Private companions can't be selected as travelers for business travel. Your company pays for business travel, so companions are only bookable on personal travel, which you pay for yourself. If you don't see your companion in the traveler selection, check that you're booking personal travel.

To learn more about what your company can and can't see, see How personal travel stays private.
