The Google Calendar sync integration keeps your Perk Event and your personal Google Calendar up to date automatically, so you and your participants always see the latest details in the calendar you already use.
Connecting Google Calendar
Connect your Google Calendar from your event's Settings tab to start syncing.
- Open an event you're organizing, then go to Settings Google Calendar.
- Click Connect Google Calendar.
- Sign in to your Google account and grant calendar access.
- Once connected, you'll see Connected as you@example.com on the event.
- Click Add to participants' calendars to add the event to your Google Calendar and invite your participants.
Perk only accesses the information it needs to create and update your calendar events. The integration is authenticated with the Google account used during connection, which may be different from the account of the person viewing these settings. If this isn’t the Google account you want to use, disconnect and reconnect the integration using the account you want invites to be sent from.
Keeping event details in sync
Perk is the source of truth for your event’s name, description, dates and times, location, and participant list. Changes you make in Perk automatically sync to Google Calendar, while changes made directly in Google Calendar don’t sync back to Perk.
Perk also sets the correct time zone for the synced event automatically, based on your event's venue location, and adjusts for daylight saving time, so you never need to convert times by hand.
Keeping RSVPs in sync
RSVPs sync both ways. When a participant responds Yes, No, or Maybe in Perk, that response shows up on Google Calendar — and an RSVP from Google Calendar (web, iOS, Android, Outlook, or any app that reads the invite) flows back into Perk.
If someone updates their RSVP on both sides, whichever change happened most recently wins, and both platforms match up within seconds. Google-side RSVPs only flow back once Perk's connection is fully set up; updates always flow from Perk to Google regardless.
Syncing draft vs. published events
If your event is still a draft, connecting Google Calendar creates the calendar entry, but participants aren't added or emailed until you publish. Once the event is published, the calendar invite and sync start right away, including sending real Google Calendar invite emails to your participants.
Disconnecting Google Calendar
Click Disconnect Google on the event's Google Calendar settings card to stop syncing. Disconnecting stops syncing right away, but the Google Calendar event that's already been created stays on your calendar — Perk doesn't delete it. Reconnecting and clicking Add to participants' calendars again on the same event picks sync back up where it left off.
Limitations
- The Google Calendar event is created only on the calendar of the organizer who clicked Add to participants' calendars. Co-organizers don't get automatic access to their own calendar version of the event, though they still receive the standard Google invite as participants.
- Perk supports Google Calendar today, not Outlook or iCloud.
