Travelers can add a child to their personal trips and book travel for them alongside their own plans. Use this article to add a child as a companion and book their travel across flights, stays, trains, and cars.

Note: Personal travel is currently in beta phase and is available to a select group of customers.

What this is and who it's for

Personal travel supports adding a child companion to a personal trip so you can book their travel together with yours. A child companion is anyone age 2 and up who travels with you on a personal trip and isn't an employee on your company's account. This is available today for travelers on Bleisure beta accounts, and only for personal trips—it doesn't apply to business travel.

Add a child as a private companion

A child is added the same way as any other private companion, like a partner, family member, or friend. Follow these steps from the traveler form used when booking personal travel.

1. Start booking a personal trip and go to the traveler selection step.
2. Choose to add a new traveler.
3. Select Companion as the traveler type.
4. Choose the relationship to the companion, for example "child."
5. Enter the child's date of birth.
6. Give the child's name and any other required details.
7. Save the companion to your list.

Personal bookings use the child's date of birth and the travel date to work out whether they're priced as a child or an adult on the trip.

Note: The system won't let you add a companion under 2 years old. If you try, you'll see a message telling you infants aren't supported yet.

Book travel for a child

Once a child is saved as a companion, you can add them to any personal trip and search across flights, stays, trains, and cars.

1. Start a search for the vertical you want to book, for example flights or stays.
2. Add the child from your saved companions to the travel party.
3. Complete the search and review the results.
4. Check the price and availability shown before booking—see the limitations below for what to expect.
5. Select your options and complete the booking as you normally would.
