Understanding Perk’s medical and baggage insurance

Perk has partnered with Battleface, our trusted insurance provider, to give you the option to add medical and baggage insurance to your trip or your whole company. 

There are two options for medical and baggage insurance at Perk:

  • Yearly plan - Yearly coverage for all eligible trips. This is only available to companies headquartered in the European Union (EU) or the United Kingdom (UK). You'll recieve a quote from our provider Battleface. 
     
  • Per-trip - Employees with residency in the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, and Switzerland can add medical and baggage insurance to eligible trips and pay for it per trip. For more information, see Add medical and baggage insurance to a trip.

Battleface will provide 24/7 customer service, claims, emergency, and medical assistance

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: You must be between 16 and 60 years old.
  • Residency: Currently available for residents of Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, the UK, and Ireland.
  • Booking type: Only available for flight bookings.
  • Trip duration: Up to 120 days.
  • Trip type: Only for round-trips. One-way trips are not covered.
  • Booking window: The trip must depart within the next 180 days, including the day of booking.
  • Supported destinations: Not all destinations are supported. 

Coverage

Battleface has created a custom policy designed especially for business travelers.  

Your coverage includes travel between your home or business and your departure point, as well as the return trip. Coverage lasts up to 24 hours each way.

Tip: Deductible is also known as excess, premium, or out-of-pocket amount. This means you only need to pay a small amount, and the rest will be covered.

Our medical and baggage insurance policy provides the following coverage:

Travel medical expenses

You’ll be covered for expenses for treatment of medical emergencies up to two million EUR with a 50 EUR deductible.

This includes:

  • Emergency dental treatment: Up to 500 EUR for emergency dental expenses related to accidental injury to healthy natural teeth.
  • Hotel stay during recovery: Up to 120 EUR each night for a maximum of ten nights if you need extra rest before returning home after a medical emergency.
  • Hospital stay allowance: 50 EUR each day for up to ten days if you’re hospitalized due to a covered medical emergency.
     

Emergency medical transportation

You’ll be covered for medical transportation to the nearest adequate medical facility or home for medical emergencies during the trip up to 100,000 EUR. 

This includes:

  • Medical evacuation and the repatriation of remains to your home country.
  • Economy flights and up to 100 EUR each day for up to five days for a person of choice to visit the employee in case they are hospitalized.
  • Economy flights and up to 100 EUR each night for up to five nights for a traveling companion to extend their stay at the destination in case of hospitalization.
     

Baggage, personal effects, and business equipment

You’ll be covered for lost, stolen, or damaged luggage and personal effects up to 2,000 EUR with a 50 EUR deductible. 

You’ll also be covered for lost, stolen, or damaged business equipment up to 2,000 EUR with a 50 EUR deductible.

Per-item limits may apply. 
 

Early return from your trip

If you need to return home early due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness, injury, or loss of a loved one. 

Note: Weather events and travel interruptions other than those due to unforeseen illness, injury, or loss of a loved one aren’t covered.

Perk’s Conditions

Here are some of Perk’s conditions that you need to be aware of:

  • Before booking insurance on the platform, ensure your Name, Date of birth, and Country of Residence are up-to-date in your Perk profile.
  • Insurance should be added during the booking process on Perk. In some cases, it can be added manually after booking by contacting Customer Care.
  • You can cancel the insurance for a full refund up to 30 days before the trip begins.
  • If the trip has started, the insurance can’t be canceled or refunded.
  • Once the insurance has been booked, it can’t be modified. If you change your booking, the insurance will be canceled. In the next release, you’ll be able to update your insurance based on your new travel dates.
  • If the airline cancels your booking or changes the date/destination, the insurance will be cancelled, and you'll get a full refund.
  • If you add extra baggage after you’ve made your booking, it will be covered too.
  • Not all accounts will have the medical and baggage insurance option available. Admins can choose to opt out by contacting their Account Manager.
