How applied flight vouchers are reserved

When you choose to use an airline voucher at checkout, Perk reserves that voucher for your flight booking. This article explains how voucher reservations work for anyone booking flights, for themselves or for others. Use it to understand where your voucher is and when it becomes available again.

Reserving a voucher at checkout

Perk reserves a flight voucher when you choose to use it at checkout. If the traveler has an airline voucher that applies to the flight, the Payment and reporting step shows two options:

  • Use voucher: Our Customer Care team completes the booking and applies the voucher. This usually takes a little longer than an instant booking.
  • Don’t use voucher: We book the flight right away.

When you select Use voucher, Perk reserves that specific voucher for the booking. You and any approvers still see the reserved voucher in checkout, trip details, and approval review for that booking.

Note: A reserved voucher stays with the booking it’s reserved for until it becomes available again.

Checking which vouchers qualify

Perk offers the voucher choice for airline vouchers and open tickets that meet all of these conditions:

  • The voucher belongs to the same traveler as the original ticket.
  • The voucher is for the same airline.
  • The voucher hasn’t expired.
  • The travel-by date hasn’t passed.

Partially used vouchers qualify if they have balance remaining.

Booking other flights while a voucher is reserved

While a flight voucher is reserved, Perk hides it from flight search and from checkout on the traveler’s other bookings. If no other voucher applies, the traveler’s next flight with that airline books right away. If the traveler has other unreserved vouchers for that airline, checkout still shows the Use voucher and Don’t use voucher options.

For example, Sarah has one Lufthansa voucher. She books a Lufthansa flight to Munich and selects Use voucher. Later that week, she books a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt. Her voucher is reserved for the Munich trip, so the Frankfurt flight books right away.

When a reserved voucher becomes available again

A reserved flight voucher stays with its booking until one of these happens:

  • The booking is canceled, is rejected, expires, or is declined by an approver. The voucher becomes available again.
  • Our Customer Care team redeems the voucher on the booking. The voucher is marked as used.
  • None of these happens within 72 hours. The voucher becomes available again.

Once a voucher is available again, the traveler sees it in flight search and checkout for eligible flights.

Frequently asked questions

Where did my voucher go?

Your flight voucher is most likely reserved for another booking where you selected Use voucher. Perk hides reserved vouchers from flight search and checkout on other bookings. You can still see the voucher in the trip details of the booking it’s reserved for.

Can I move a reserved voucher to another booking?

A reserved voucher stays with its booking. To use it on a different flight, wait until it becomes available again, for example after the original booking is canceled.

What happens to my voucher if my booking is canceled?

When a booking with a reserved voucher is canceled, the voucher becomes available again for the traveler’s other flights.

Why did my next booking go through without the voucher option?

Your voucher is reserved for an earlier booking with the same airline. When no other voucher applies, Perk books the next flight right away.

How long does a voucher reservation last?

A voucher reservation lasts until our Customer Care team redeems the voucher, or the booking is canceled, is rejected, expires, or is declined by an approver. If none of these happens, the voucher becomes available again after 72 hours.
